October 2025 Member Spotlight: Michael Sweet

Meet Michael Sweet, Senior Vice President at The Retail Connection and a dedicated leader in North Texas retail brokerage. Specializing in tenant and landlord representation, Michael brings both strategy and enthusiasm to every deal. His path to commercial real estate began in an unexpected place—banking. After several years as a commercial lender, he made the leap into the industry in 2012, joining one of his clients, Victory Real Estate Group. That decision set him on a rewarding career path that blends business acumen with a genuine passion for people and place-making.

Michael’s love for retail real estate stems from its deeply human element. “So many industries have become automated and tech-driven, but in real estate, relationships still matter,” he says. Whether helping a brand find the perfect storefront or seeing a new restaurant thrive, Michael finds fulfillment in being part of his clients’ success stories. “I love driving by stores and restaurants knowing I helped make that happen,” he shares. The everyday interaction with clients, and even getting to shop and dine in the spaces he’s helped create, makes his work both personal and rewarding.

A long-time member of NTCAR, Michael first joined to meet others and build connections when he was new to the industry. Over time, his involvement has grown, and in 2025 he joined NTCAR’s Board of Directors, also serving on the Membership and Mentorship committees. “Being on the Membership Committee allows me to help members get the most out of NTCAR, introduce new professionals to the organization, and create meaningful networking opportunities,” he says.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time on the golf course. His advice to newcomers in commercial real estate is simple but powerful: “Don’t give up. It takes time to build relationships and expertise. Be responsive, always do right by your client, and success will follow.” Through his leadership, commitment, and enthusiasm, Michael continues to make a lasting impact on both the retail landscape and the NTCAR community. We are so glad to have Michael as a leader in our organization!
